In Dynasty Warriors 6: Special, he appears under Cao Pi's command of his father's army against his former lord at Hebei.
If he isn't defeated when Wuchao falls, he will defect along with Zhang He and Xu You. In Dynasty Warriors 6, he is one of the generals who attack Yanjin fort and is also buffed up. Even if he defects, he rarely appears again after the battle is over. So maybe 8 is still your best bet overall.Īlso as others have said some of the strongest entries are actually in spin offs, hyrule warriors is amazing. In earlier Dynasty Warriors titles, Gao Lan usually only appears at Guan Du fighting for Zhang He. As much as I enjoyed them this year I’m not sure how they’d feel to play as someone totally new though, they are pretty old. In the later games they are totally mindless and incompetent which leads to you needing to do everything. They will actually fight each other, kill enemies and even help you out from time to time. The main thing for me is that the ai is actually capable and has some competence. I’ve been playing them again recently and they have so many features that later games cut. Personally I would say dynasty warriors 5 was the high point of the series, with 4 being a very close 2nd. There’s a demo/trial version if you want to see for yourself but I’d stick with 8. They tried to open world with 9 and it just didn’t work at all, it’s a mess. The best modern game would be DW8, the extreme legends version. You won’t miss out on any story and DW2 is isn’t that good. It’s essentially the same story in each game but retold slightly differently, so you don’t need to go that far back.
